ABOUT STEPPINGSTONE
STEPPINGSTONE ENTERPRISES is a unique and ground breaking consulting firm dedicated to
providing our clients the best and most current information available regarding emergency
preparedness and sustainable urban development.
The firm was founded in 2005 by David Miller for the purpose of collaborating with cities,
organizations, and individuals to help them better respond to and prepare for the next large scale
disaster. Arguably, there are two approaches to this scenario: 1) developing short-term,
emergency-oriented mitigation and preparedness plans; and/or 2) developing long-term plans and
policies that will gradually address the situation over a twenty to thirty year time span.
With war, global natural resource decline, climate change, and a volatile stock market, current
conditions have been euphemistically defined as "uncertain". As a grass-roots reaction to these
powerful phenomena, age-old and yet often forgotten themes sophisticated have re-arisen to
provide some optimism that human ingenuity and collective effort will prevail. These "new
trends" promote localization, conservation, and self-reliance. STEPPINGSTONE supports and
encourages this paradigm shift and a "back to the basics" approach to solving problems.
By creating mutually beneficial partnerships and interdependent resource networks, at the local
and regional levels, we can all make more informed decisions - personally and professionally.
